La población fueron 33 enfermeras que laboran en el Hospital Regional Docente Ambato. Se aplicó el instrumento “Hand Eczema Severity Index” en las fotografías obtenidas de la población y se realizó una encuesta para identificar factores de riesgo. <strong>Resultados: </strong>El 91% presentó afecciones leves, 3% leve-moderado y 6% leve, moderado y severo. Los signos clínicos fueron eritema, descamación y fisuras, con extensión de 25 a 50 %. Los factores de riesgo fueron: 100% se lavaba las manos más de 10 veces con jabón líquido-clorhexidina, realizaban cambios de temperatura frecuentemente entre frío, calor y humedad. El 73% usaba gel antiséptico después del lavado de manos, el 60% presentó afecciones por el uso de guantes. <strong>Conclusiones: </strong>Las afecciones ocupacionales, que presentó el personal de enfermería son: eritema, fisuras y descamación predominando en dorso de manos y muñecas. El 6% curso tres fases: leve moderado y severo. Los factores de riesgo fueron: frecuente lavado de manos con clorhexidina, cambios de temperatura, uso de gel antiséptico y guantes. <strong>Palabras clave: </strong>dermatitis, anomalías cutáneas, eccema<strong>.</strong></p> <p><strong>ABSTRACT:</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;To identify the presence of occupational skin conditions of the hands, present in the nursing staff of the neonatology area, through the application of the Hand Eczema Severity Index instrument. <strong>Methods:</strong> Descriptive study with quantitative approach of cross-sectional cohort. The population consisted of 33 nurses working at the Hospital Regional Docente Ambato. The instrument "Hand Eczema Severity Index" was applied to photographs obtained from the population and a survey was carried out to identify risk factors. <strong>Results:</strong> 91% presented mild, 3% mild-moderate and 6% mild, moderate and severe eczema. Clinical signs were erythema, desquamation and fissures, with 25% to 50% extension. The risk factors were: 100% washed their hands more than 10 times with liquid soap-chlorhexidine, made frequent changes of temperature between cold, heat and humidity. 73% used antiseptic gel after hand washing, 60% presented conditions due to the use of gloves. <strong>Conclusions:</strong> The occupational conditions presented by the nursing personnel were: erythema, fissures and desquamation, predominantly on the back of the hands and wrists. The 6% course had three phases: mild, moderate and severe. The risk factors were: frequent hand washing with chlorhexidine, temperature changes, use of antiseptic gel and gloves.
